CAR RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Minimum rental.
The minimum rental time is one (1) day, calculated on the basis of the 24-hour system (return time equal to pick-up time).
- Age requirement.
For all vehicle groups, driver must be over 21 years of age.
- Driving license.
Driver must hold a driving license for at least three (3) years. The driving license may be Greek, European or international. The international driving license must be accompanied by the driving license issued by the driver's country.
- Renter’s obligations.
- The renter is obliged to inspect the vehicle (internally and externally), to indicate any damage by marking accordingly the Table of Damages and to return the vehicle to the exactly same condition.
- Upon pick-up of the vehicle, the renter is required to show to VALID CAR RENTAL his driving license, his ID or passport and his credit / debit card.
- Payment methods.
(a) Deposit/transfer to bank account.
VALID CAR RENTAL maintains accounts in the National Bank of Greece and Eurobank.
(b) Cash on delivery.
(c) Payment by credit or debit card:
VALID CAR RENTAL accepts all Visa and Mastercard credit / debit cards. In case of a prior reservation if the payment card is not approved upon pick-up of the vehicle, the car rental will not be possible and the corresponding cancellation fee will apply.
(d) PayPal payment:
By selecting PayPal as a payment method, you are automatically transferred to the PayPal website for the transaction, where you have the option to either sign in using your existing PayPal account or fill in your credit or debit card details without a PayPal account. When using PayPal for your payment, your credit card information is not provided to VALID CAR RENTAL. PayPal transactions are governed by the PayPal Terms & Conditions (link).
- Deposit for guarantee.
- For a car rental an amount as a deposit for guarantee is required, paid in cash or by credit / debit card.
- The amount of the deposit varies according to the car group. Specifically, for car groups Α, B and C is 150 €, for car group D is 200 € and for the rest car groups is 250 €.
- The amount as a deposit for guarantee is fully refunded at the end of the rental, provided no other charges arise.
- In case of guarantee payment by credit / debit card the refund can take up to fourteen (14) days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit/debit card.
- Car delivery / return.
- The renter must deliver / return the vehicle to a representative of VALID CAR RENTAL at the indicated date, time (max + 1 hour) and location. For any modification (extension or reduction) the written consent of VALID CAR RENTAL is required.
- Deliveries or delays beyond one (1) hour from the time indicated and up to the first three (3) hours are charged with 50% of the daily rent; three (3) hours and up are charged as an extra day.
- The renter must return the vehicle clean and ready for inspection, time and charge of fifteen (15) euros for the cleaning and inspection may be required. The existence of tar requires additional work and a charge of seventy-five (75) euros. Cleaning the interior or upholstery of the vehicle requires a minimum charge of sixty (60) euros.
- Fuel.
- The renter bears the fuel costs (unleaded petrol or diesel, depending on the type of vehicle).
- The quantity of fuel is written on the contract on the pick-up of the vehicle and shall be equivalent to the quantity on delivery.
- In the case of returning the vehicle with less fuel, the renter will be charged with the fuel difference plus three (3) euros for the refueling service.
- Unused fuel does not in any way give rise to a refund.
- No refunds are issued for vehicles returned with more fuel when collected.
- Add-on options.
Within the context of integrated services, we give you additional options with the following daily charges:
- Baby seats (0 - 36 months old) - 5 €
- Internet Hotspot - Unlimited - 5 €
- GPS - 5 €
- Winter package (winter tires, snow chains, ice scraper) - 8 €
- Fines and violations.
From the pick-up time of the vehicle until its return and delivery to a representative of VALID CAR RENTAL, the renter is responsible for the fines, traffic violations, illegal parking and administrative fines that he / she has to pay and deliver a certified copy of the discharge act or receipt, otherwise, the sum of the call / infringement plus management costs of fifteen (15) euros will be borne by VALID CAR RENTAL either after the renter has declared the infringement at the time of delivery of the vehicle or after spinning by the police or other competent authorities at a later time and with no time limit on these charges. In the latter case, the charge will be made on the renter’s credit / debit card.
- Collection - Delivery.
- Collections or deliveries (Monday to Saturday 09:00 - 21:00) are subject to the following charges, which are incurred by the respective VAT:

- Collections or deliveries at night, outside working hours or at Sundays, are charged with 16,80 € plus the respective VAT.
- Insurance.
- The rented vehicle’s insurance is included in the rent and covers indicatively the following: fire, terrorist acts, injuries to third parties and occupants, damage to third parties, theft, breakage of crystals, driver’s personal car accident, legal protection.
- Coverages are subject to the terms of VALID CAR RENTAL's contract with its insurance company.
- Waiver of liability.
- Provided that the renter accepts the Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) in advance and in writing, and under the condition that the Road Traffic Code is not infringed, the renter’s liability for damage to the rented vehicle may be reduced at a minimum charge of 400 € for groups A and B, 500 € for group C, 600 € for group D and 800 € for other groups. These prices include VAT.
- Provided that the renter accepts the Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) in advance and in writing, he / she may be fully exempted from liability for damage to the rented vehicle, by paying an additional 9 € for groups Α and Β, 10 € for group C, 12 € for group D and 15 € for other groups respectively per rental day.
- The Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) has no force in Bulgaria, Albania and FYROM.
- The Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) has no force, even if agreed and accepted, in the following cases:
- Participation in racings.
- Traction of vehicles and other trailers.
- Loading objects beyond the vehicle’s capacity specified by the manufacturer.
- Unilateral liability statement by the renter in the event of an accident, without immediately informing VALID CAR RENTAL and without the necessary presence of Traffic Police in order to provide a copy of the Vehicle Accident Report.
- Operation of the vehicle by any third party who is not stated on the relevant form, regardless of whether he / she holds a driving license and his relationship with the renter.
- Operation of the vehicle beyond the agreed rental time.
- Operation of the vehicle by a renter who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Operation of the vehicle in violation of the Road Traffic Code or in a way that endangers the vehicle, occupants or third parties.
- Operation of the vehicle on non-paved roads.
- Operation of the vehicle for the transfer of persons or objects for a fee.
- Operation of the vehicle for an activity which is illegal under Greek law.
- Operation of the vehicle for learning third parties to drive.
- No coverage covers damages (damage or loss) to tires, wheels or wheel rims, to glass, to RCD DVDs, to antennas, to instruments and to the underside of the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle (e.g. burning, tearing or soiling the upholstery) is also not covered.
- Accident and damages.
- In case of an accident, regardless the renter's liability and the accepted coverage, in order to file to file a statement to the insurance company, the renter is incurred with the 30% of the vehicle's annual premiums, with a minimum of one hundred (100) euros, plus and the amount of 25,21 € plus VAT as an incident administration fee. Incident administration fees are not refundable.
- In the event of an accident (bump, deflection etc.) or damage (scratches, markings etc.) and with any insurance coverage, the Traffic Police and VALID CAR RENTAL must be notified immediately, and the Vehicle Accident Report must be provided upon delivery / return of the vehicle, otherwise, the renter will be liable for all damages and other related expenses, even if he / she had accepted the Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.).
- If repair of a vehicle’s damages is required, the renter cannot select a workshop other than the workshops of VALID CAR RENTAL's affiliates and the workshops of the official or authorized representative in Greece of the specific vehicle. The renter is liable for any related expenses that may be incurred (e.g. workdays).
- Change of vehicle type.
Depending on the availability of vehicles, VALID CAR RENTAL reserves the right to provide a different type of vehicle than that of your reservation, in any case, of a corresponding or higher category.
- Ferry restrictions.
Transportation by ferry is only permitted with the written approval of VALID CAR RENTAL, otherwise the renter is solely responsible for any damage caused to the vehicle at sea and he is not covered by any insurance, even if he / she had accepted the Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.).
- Off-border vehicle transport.
- Crossing the Greek borders with the vehicle is prohibited without the prior written authorization from VALID CAR RENTAL and after issuing a Green Card, the cost of which is borne by the renter.
- The renter is obliged to return the vehicle to Greece.
- Mechanical damage - Road assistance.
- In the event of a mechanical damage or a Road Assistance application, the renter may contact VALID CAR RENTAL on a 24-hour basis to inform him or her.
- Road assistance is not valid in the island country unless stated at the outset, and the renter is responsible for the return of the vehicle, bearing the relevant costs.
- Taxes.
The renter is subject to a value added tax (VAT) of 24%, or as it is applicable at any time, on prices and charges.
